Fiscal year 2019-2020 Section Officers
President: Heather Polgrean
Heather works for IBM performing failure analysis and materials characterization as a member of the CVFA team out of East Fishkill. She works primarily with surface, x-ray and thermal techniques. Among other experience, she served as the President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society while in college where the acting administration was able to boost membership to its highest rate since the chapter was founded, increase event participation and raise money for supported causes dwarfing the prior three years of activity combined.
Heather wants to take lessons learned from past leadership experience and apply them to the Society for Women Engineers in a way that encourages new growth both for the section itself and for members. She believes that by working to provide outreach, education and opportunity for each other and our communities we better our collective futures
Vice-President: Hannah Kopet
Hannah has been involved with SWE since her second semester at Binghamton University, State University of New York. She was highly-involved in the Binghamton Bike Share program and served initially as a Project Manager and then the Vice President while pursuing her Industrial Engineering degree. Since graduating, Hannah currently works at GlobalFoundries in Fishkill as an Industrial Engineer, a position made possible due to her connections at a local SWE meeting. She also enjoys talking to students in schools and encouraging them to get involved with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) based programs. She currently volunteers and provides technical guidance to the Carmel High School Robotics Team and participated in a GlobalFoundries initiative at a local school to describe their jobs and encourage female students into STEM programs.
In her free time, Hannah plays soccer and is an avid fan, is a youth soccer coach, tutors United States Marine recruits in Math, and loves to travel.
Secretary: JoAnn Rolick DiGiacomio
JoAnn is currently the Chief of Staff to the General Manager of GLOBALFOUNDRIES East Fishkill semiconductor plant.
She is interested in giving back and sees the Mid-Hudson SWE secretary role as an opportunity to connect with the local SWE community and help others develop themselves and their career. She has been a technical lead, people manager, and project manager in manufacturing and process development, software development, and quality management for chip design. Her past volunteer experience includes being the store committee chair at a WWI aviation museum in Rhinebeck, NY, school visits for engineering week, and organizing events with her company's climate teams. She is a wife and mother of 2 small children and enjoys painting, hiking, and being outdoors.
