    • Annual Kickoff Meeting (September 26th 2019) — video recap below
      We had the Mid Hudson SWE Annual Kick off Event At Ice House on September 26th 2019.  The event was open to both members and non members.  After introducing the new 2019-2020 board members, we had a talk by Stacey Kurian, P.E. and Julianna Connelly from the Chazen Company.  It was interesting to hear the perspective of early and mid tenure Women engineers from Civil Engineering field and their challenges and success stories working for a local engineering company.
  • November
    • Mid Hudson SWE Community Meeting (Nov 14th 2019)
      We met at Sloop, a casual brewery in East Fishkill on November 14th at 5pm for the first Mid Hudson SWE Round Table! This event was open to members and non-members alike. The purpose of the meeting was to explore ideas for events, community projects, outreach and educational opportunities for the upcoming year in a relatively informal setting. Members of the Fishkill Historical Society were invited to the event as well.

  • May – Valkill Tour and Hike.  in the early stage of planning
  • The talk on the Mt. Beacon Incline Railway and a hike, scheduled for May 13th was postponed again. We hope to reschedule it for some time in the fall.

  • April – DCC Science Fair on 4/7.  Invitation for judging went out yesterday with RSVP by 3/30.
  • March – Dinner and Talk by SWE Leadership Coach.  Details to follow
  • February – eWeek Banquet on 02/27.  Invitation email was sent with RSVP by 2/23. 
  • Sip and Paint EventJanuary 31st 7:00 – 9:30 pm
    ​We invite you to join us for a fun night of painting, wine, and networking!
    When: Wednesday, January 31st, 7:00 – 9:30 pm
    Where:Paintbrushes & Party ~ 702 Freedom Plains Road, Rt 55, Poughkeepsie, NY
    Cost:$35 for members and $40 for non-members (this does not include wine which will be available for purchase during the class).  Your RSVP is a financial commitment.  For reservation purposes we ask that you please pay in advance.  Details will be provided in response to RVSP.
    RSVP: by January 15th to midhudsonswe@gmail.com and let us know which painting option you would like (see below).  Each person can choose one or the other.
    Painting Choice: There are two options for what to paint:
    Option 1: Learn painting step by step with the group:
    Option 2: choose any “easy” level painting from the gallery and paint on your own (they will still be available to assist you)

  • Hudson Beach Glass – we have booked a Saturday morning at Hudson Beach Glass with room for many more ornament making slots. We want to make this a networking even by going out to lunch together afterwards.

    When: Sat Oct 28, 2017 from 10 am onwards

    How much: $35 an ornament for members, $40 for non-members
    How many: I have 18 slots booked but we can add more if needed
    RSVP: by Oct 14. Your RSVP is your financial commitment as we will be committing to Hudson Beach Glass.

    ​We can accommodate specific time slot requests to the extent it is possible. We can’t have empty slots in the middle of our set. Each slot is approximately 15 mins although HBG says it goes faster with a group as the next person is prepared with their choices. So it might be as short as 10 mins per ornament.
  • The 3rd annual Hudson Valley Women in Tech Night Out on Tuesday,  November 7, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the IBM Poughkeepsie B/705 Cafeteria.   
    We hope that you can join us as we are fortunate to have Dr. Pamela Eddington, the President of Dutchess Community College as our guest speaker.  We will also have a leadership panel discussion featuring: 
    • Maria Boonie – IBM VP IBM Systems; IBM Mid-Hudson Valley Senior Location Executive
    • Shauna Keating – Moonfarmer UI/UX, front-end development, Hudson Valley Tech Meet-up Group

    • Helene Rude – Marist College Director of the Cloud Computing and Analytics Center; Former IBMer; Former Director of Educational Programs at the SUNY Levin Institute 
    • Molly Ahearn – President, Full Deck Design and Chair of the Women’s Leadership Alliance, Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
